The National Land
Committee (NLC)
The National Land Committee is a
section 21 non-governmental organisation comprising a national
office and eight affiliated land rights organisations. The NLC
actively assists poor black rural people across eight (of nine)
provinces to access land rights and development resources.
The
Association for Rural Advancement (AFRA)
The Association for Rural Advancement
(AFRA) assists communities to regain land which they lost through
forcible removal or eviction, sustainable development of this
land, and helping communities influence land reform and a just
land and agrarian policy for South Africa.
Cato Manor Development Project
Black South African were removed
during the Apartheid ear under the Group Areas Act. The area was a
symbol of resistance in the 1950s and 1960s. Today it is the site
of an ambitious post-apartheid housing redevelopment program.
Church Land
Programme
The Church Land Programme (CLP) is an
independent ecumenical non-governmental organisation initiated in
1996. In response to the land crises facing southern
Africa, CLP
seeks to work with the church – both as landowner and landless –
to ensure access to land and sustainable livelihoods for the poor.
The Programme
for Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS)
The
Programme for Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS) is a constituent
unit of the University of the Western Cape's School of Government.
Established in 1995, PLAAS is based in Cape Town, South Africa.
