Statement of the The Committee for the Defense of Palestinian Refugee Rights (12 July 2000)

(concerning Camp David II)

In the Name of God

To Our Palestinian People

In Camp David a fateful summit will be held in the presence of the leader of the Palestinian people, Yasser Arafat, head of the Palestinian delegation, in order to reach a final agreement that determines the future of the peace process and the future of the Palestinian nation. The most fateful issues will be discussed, Jerusalem, the borders and the refugee issue - the core of the conflict in the region.

The Committee highly appreciates the current positions adopted by the Palestinian leadership concerning the final status issues and the future of the peace process. From this point, we reaffirm the following:

    1. The nationally accepted solution is the one that is built on the basic Palestinian national rights that guarantee a full withdrawal from the occupied land in 1967 and the establishing of the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as the capital.
    2. The right of return for the Palestinian refugees is a red line, it is not negotiable, and not a matter of discussion. Any compromise on this issue is a national betrayal.
    3. We call upon the Palestinian people, the national parties, popular committees, youth centers, and all refugee initiatives to participate in a wide popular movement, including marches and demonstrations, that support the Palestinian negotiators and to avoid any political compromise that might be imposed by the Americans and the arrogant Zionist enemy who deny our national rights.

Let us burn the ground under the feet of the occupation!
Let us move to support our leadership! It’s either the return or the return!
