Since the beginning of this century, the Israeli establishment and political parties have
been unified under the same rigid Zionist agenda: the continuous confiscation of land for
settlement construction, the annexation of Jerusalem, control of water resources, and the
denial of responsibility for the Palestinian catastrophe (eviction, deportation,
uprooting, and ignoring the right to return, the right for self-determination, and the
right to establish a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital).
At the same time, and after a decade of peace negotiations, Barak is
participating in the Camp David II summit armed with his Nos. (No to dividing Jerusalem,
no to removing settlements, no to the return of refugees, no to sharing water resources,
no to Palestinian sovereignty, and no to Palestinian control over the borders of a
Palestinian state.).
Unfortunately, in these days one of us has raised his head
and made statements, which negatively affect the national consensus. These statements
represent a violation of the Palestinian consensus, which is supported by national
personalities and political parties (including the latest decisions adopted by the
Palestinian Central Council), and which reflects a steadfast position on national issues
supported by the entire Palestinian people. This position is a ship with room for all
Palestinians demanding their rights, including the right to a state with sovereignty over
land, borders, water, and the sky, the right to Jerusalem as the capital of the state, the
right of refugees to return to their homes and properties according to international
resolutions - starting from UN General Assembly resolution 181 through 194, and ending
with those condemning the annexation of Jerusalem, the construction of settlements, and
calling for an end to the occupation forever.
-
We are in the UYAC/Gaza and West Bank call upon the
Palestinian leadership to remain steadfast against the challenges ahead, until the last
drop of their blood to defend the Palestinian national, historical and political
consensus. Stemming from our concern for national unity in the face of the final status
negotiations, we call upon the leadership to stop all those voluntary voices that
negatively influence the Palestinian position and future, politically, economically, and
socially - those voices that might be understood by international public opinion as
indicators and positions officially accepted by the Palestinian people.
-
We call for a unified voice on all issues that make up the
national consensus, and which are not a subject of individual, personal opinions. We
therefore demand that national institutions uphold the sacred national consensus, with the
refugee issue and the right of return at its heart, and resist descending into the lowest
degrees of negative reality. The refugee issue and the sacred right of return is not a
commercial project characterized by figures and statistics; the right of return is an
inheritance for the coming generations until it is achieved. Even though the negotiation
process is governed by an unjust balance of power in favor of Israel, the Palestinian
people still have the means to balance the power in the region. We still have options as
long as the Israeli's still deny our national rights. The national consensus represents
only the minimum among our rights, and no one will be allowed to trifle with them.
-
We call upon the national, political, and Islamic parties,
refugee committees, unions and popular committees in Palestine and the diaspora to
increase the level of coordination and to fulfill their responsibilities concerning the
national agenda. (Freedom, Independence, and Return).
-
We also call upon the Palestinian negotiators to unify their
political speech, in line with the position announced in the Palestinian Central Council,
and consistent with our sacrifices over an entire century.
