November 2007

• 29 November: UN Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
Launch of Nakba-60 Campaign with a Call to Action issued by the International Coordination Network of NGOs on Palestine (ICNP)
[See Campaign Resources/Print Tools].
Since 1977, the UN Day of Solidarity reminds of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people (UNGAR 3236 of 1974), i.e. the rights to freedom, self-determination, statehood, sovereignty and return of the refugees to their homes of origin. Worldwide activities on this occasion raise awareness and promote respect of these rights.

• November 07 – March 08: BADIL public Al-Awda Award Competition 2008, including call for submissions (in Arabic) for best Nakba-Awda posters, documentary films, research papers, oral history testimonies, children's stories and journalistic reports:

• November 07 – June 08: International Photography Tour of Lajee Center and Rich Wiles: exhibition of photos produced by the children of Lajee Center, Aida refugee camp (Bethlehem) in the UK, Netherlands, Scotland, France and Austalia. • End November: Launch of “100 Terms on the Nakba”, a project implemented by BADIL, the Ibn Khaldoun Center (Tamra) and the global Palestine Right-of-Return Coalition with Palestinian youth identifying and describing key terms of the Palestinian Nakba heritage. Contact: resource@badil.org

 

December 2007

• 10 December: 59th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)
Launch of the UN Campaign “Justice and dignity for all of us”. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the UDHR on 10 December 2008, this one-year-long UN-initiated campaign aims to promote awareness and respect of the rights enshrined in the UDHR, including the right to return to one's country (Article 13/2). Recommendation: link the Nakba-60 and the UDHR-60 campaign. For more detail, see:

• 11 December: 59th Anniversary of UN General Assembly Resolution 194
UNGAR 194 (11 December 1948) affirms the right to return, restitution and compensation of Palestinian refugees.
