* Rafeef Ziadah

Rafeef Ziadah is a Palestinian spoken word artist who recently released
her debut album Hadeel in 2009 with grant support from the Ontario Arts
Council. Rafeef Ziadah’s spoken word performances are rooted in the
Palestinian struggle for freedom and the key role that performance poetry
has played in addressing struggles for social justice around the world. In
parallel to artist work Ziadah is actively involved in the Coalition
Against Israeli Apartheid (CAIA) in Toronto and the Toronto Palestine Film

* Kaie Kellough

Kaie Kellough is an acclaimed bilingual author, editor, educator, &
general word-sound systemizer celebrated across Canada for innovative and
socially conscience poetry, Kellough is the author of lettricity (Cumulus
Press 04), the co-editor of talking book anthology (Cumulus Press 04) and
will launch Maple Leaf Rag in April 2010 with Arbeiter Ring Publishing.

* LAL

LAL is a celebrated Toronto music collective that was founded over 10
years ago, their sound contrasts: icy, futuristic rhythms melting into
warm basslines and soothing soul melodies, with reverberating atmospherics
whirling about the spacious groove. Hints of singer Rosina Kazi’s South
Asian roots and Nick Murray or Murr’s hip hop formation seasoned their
productions with a taste of tradition, while the overall sound suggested
something far more progressive.

LAL’s 2004 sophomore endeavor Warm Belly High Power, a record flush with
confidence, its wide-open soundscapes filled with intricate percussive
twists and turns that bounced around from late-night bedtime slow burners
to 3am bliss. LAL’s most recent release is Deportation, a record that
conveys immense feelings that disorientation, abandonment and injustice.
LAL is signed to Public Transit Records and has performed internationally
across Canada and throughout the Indian sub-continent.

* DJ Moonstarr

Moonstar is a celebrated beat-maker, DJ and founder of the grassroots
Public Transit Recordings. As a beat-maker the man’s composes behind
closed doors over his synths, drum machines, and samplers to bang out some
killer beats, everything Moonstar touches carries imprints of deep techno,
jazz, hip hop, bossa, and broken beat, resulting in tracks that step far
into the future. Since Moonstar dropped the now-classic Dupont EP, he’s

This is the twelfth Artists Against Apartheid concert occurring within the
international campaign for boycott, divestment and sanctions against
Israeli apartheid.

Rafeef Ziadah est une poète palestinienne qui, grâce au support du Conseil
des Arts de l’Ontario, a sorti son premier album Hadeel en 2009. Les
représentations de Rafeef Ziadah sont enracinées dans la lutte
palestinienne pour la liberté et joue un rôle clé dans la lutte pour la
justice sociale dans le monde entier. Parallèlement à son travail
d’artiste, Ziadah est activement impliquée dans la Coalition Contre
l’Apartheid israélien (CAIA) à Toronto et aussi dans le Festival du Film

futuristes se fondant dans lignes de basse chaudes et mélodies soul
relaxantes. Les origines asiatiques de la chanteuse Rosina Kazi et Nick
Murray ou la touche HIP HOP de Murr relèvent leurs productions avec un
goût de tradition, tandis que la musique dans son ensemble suggère quelque
chose de beaucoup plus progressif. La sortie la plus récente du LAL’S est
Deportation, un album qui transmet les sentiments immenses de
désorientation, d’abandon et d’injustice. LAL a signé avec Public Transit
Records et a performé à travers tout le Canada et l’Inde.

Moonstarr est un faiseur de rythme célèbre, DJ il est aussi le fondateur
du populaire Public Transit Recordings. Moonstarr compose ses sons à huis
clos et nous surprendre avec des rythmes inédits et une musique
fracassante. Tout les morceaux de Moonstarr portent des empreintes de
techno, jazz, hip hop, bossa et de rythmes saccadés, produisant une
musique futuriste. Depuis que Moonstarr a quitté le classique Dupont EP,
il a reçu l’amour pour son travail dans le monde entier.
