Bethlehem. The Badil Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights is proud to present the 2nd Al-Awda Annual Award at an awards ceremony on 3 May 2008 at the Cultural Palace in Ramallah. The Al-Awda Award was established by Badil in 2007 to raise the profile of Palestinian refugee rights, particularly the Palestinan refugees' right to return to their homes and lands, as well as to create an independent and free venue and platform through which to spotlight Palestinian talents and creativity.

The festival will include an exhibition of the best posters submitted for this year's contest, which are the work of some of the best Palestinian artists in Palestine and abroad. The exhibition will start at 3pm, an hour before the beginning of the awards ceremony, at the Ramallah Cultural Palace reception hall.

The awards ceremony, which begins at 4pm, will include an exceptional cultural performance by the Palestinian Popular Arts Group (Firqet Al-Funun Al-Sha'biyah) commemorating 60 years since the Palestinian Nakba of 1948, as well as screenings of the documentaries receiving the award for this year.

The festival will be covered by various media outlets, and will be broadcast live on several satelite stations. Several notable cultural and political figures, as well as representatives of Badil and the selection comittees will present the winners with their prizes.
