Popular Activities in the framework of the 53rd Anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba In preparation of the main rallies and marches in commemoration of the 53rd anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba scheduled for 15 May, Palestinian institutions and popular organizations inside and outside the refugee camps of Palestine have organized a series of activities.

The following is a second update about the planned events (see also: BADIL press release 12-5; E/30/2001 published on our website):

Gaza Strip:

12 May (17:00), Jabalya Camp: public debate "Al Nakba - Al Awda" with Jamal Zaqout, Jamil Majdalawi, a.o. with the participation, via telephone, of Marwan Barghouthi and Palestinian member of Knesset Taleb as-San'a; distribution of a special info-bulletin about al-Nakba.

15 May: residents of the camps of the central Gaza Strip will form a joint Nakba march starting from the center of each camp and ending at Salah ad-Din Street in Gaza City.

Central West Bank/Jerusalem-Ramallah:

12 - 18 May: Palestinian heritage exhibition of women's centers and charitable societies at Baladna Center/Ramallah;

15 May (12:00): the Nakba march will lead from Al-Am'ari Camp to the center of Ramallah. A memorandum demanding international support for refugees' right of return and international protection will be delivered to the United Nations, and a protest tent will be set up on Manara Square. At 16:00: rally participants will express their protest at the Israeli checkpoints in the Ramallah area.
