PNGO and PHROC organized an event on the occasion of the international Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people

The Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO) and The Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council (PHROC) organized an activity today morning to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people. Members of the international community working in the oPt, including members of international missions, representatives in the United Nations agencies attended the meeting.

 The event highlighted anniversaries including 50 years of occupation, 70 years of forcible transfer and 100 years of the Balfour Declaration in a workshop. During the event live Palestinian traditional music was performed and the screening of the short films “the Parrot” by Darren Salam and Amjad Al-Rasheed.

The event included showing a message video by Mr. Benjamin Ladraa a human rights activist walking from Sweden to Palestine on foot. The event also included key speakers including Mr. Issam Aruri, General Director of Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center, Mr. James Heenan, Head of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in the oPt, Mr. Robert Piper, Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Aid and Development Activities in the oPt (UNSCO), and finally Mr. Shawan Jabarin , General Director of Al-Haq.

The event included booths for PNGO including the health, agriculture, education sectors and the Jerusalem, Women and Youth committees. PHROC booths also included various human rights organizations working in the oPt, they presented publications and showcased their activities both on the local and international level.
