As part of the effort to establish an address and lobby for their concerns, the Bir'Ona Residents’ Committee invited Palestinian officials into their neighborhood so as to explain their problems on site and to strategize ways for working for a solution. Approximately ten officials and Palestinian press followed the invitation on Saturday 30 June. Some 70 residents present in the meeting insisted that their issue be addressed practically and not on the level of slogans. After a prolongued and heated debate, it was decided set up a preparatory committee composed of the Residents’ Committee and the Municipality of Beit Jala which is to organize a strategy discussion on the case of Bir ‘Ona within the near future. In this future meeting, representatives of the PLC, the Orient House, the PA Ministry of Local Affairs, and the Bethlehem District Governorate will be invited to present their analysis of the complex case of Bir ‘Ona and to examine ways for intervention by the Palestinian official level.
