International Organising Committee of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine
“May this Tribunal prevent the crime of silence…” (B. Russell)
Barcelona will host on 1, 2 and 3 March 2010 the first session of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine, an initiative by the international civil society that takes on the spirit of the first historic Russell Tribunal on Vietnam in 1967 and seeks to examine the violations of international law suffered by the Palestinian people.
Although its resolutions are not binding, the work of the Tribunal is based on international law, a respected jury and a renowned group of experts and lawyers. The first session will be held at the Universitat de Barcelona (Paranimf Hall), and its program will focus on the European Union complicity vis-à-vis the breach of international resolutions and conventions on Palestine.
More than a hundred personalities have already joined the international support committee, including Boutros-Boutros Ghali (former UN secretary general), Mohammed Bedjaoui (former president of the International Court of Justice), Noam Chomsky (MIT professor), Ken Loach (filmmaker) and José Saramago (Literature Nobel Prize in 1998).
Because of your personal and professional profile, we wish to invite you to this significant event.
Since the room has a limited capacity, we kindly request those wishing to attend to fill in a pre-registration form or to send us an email at:
