Experiencing Return - Palestinian Refugees Visit Bosnia

A film documents the visit of a delegation of Palestinian refugees to Bosnia-Herzegovina, where roughly one-quarter of the population (1.2 million) were displaced during the 1992-1995 war. Approximately 65 percent of the housing stock wasdamaged or destroyed and property books were rendered unusable.

Palestine 2002

However, unlike in the case of Palestine/Israel, the international community has shown political will and determination to bring about the return of refugees and to rebuild Bosnia-Herzegovina as a multi-ethnic country. By 2002, some 350,000 refugees and displaced persons had returned, and some 117,000 claimants (46%) were enable to repossess their properties.

In June 2002, Palestinian refugees traveled to Bosnia in order to understand: What was done and how? What didn't work and why? What are the lessons for Palestinians and their struggle for the implementation of the right of return and real property restitution?
