Public Invitation: No Peace without Return to Our Homes

BADIL Resource Center
14 March 2001
For Immediate Release

On the occasion of the Deir Yassin massacre and all other massacres committed against the Palestinian people by Zionist terrorist groups in the past and by governments of the Israeli state thereafter, rallies and marches will be launched by the Al AWDA network all over the world on 7 April 2001 in support of the rights of our refugee people to return to their homes from which they were displaced by direct military and terrorist force. The world-wide rallies will be united by one joint slogan: “No Peace without Return to Our Homes!”

The aims of our April 7 marches and rallies are: first, to reaffirm the united position of our people concerning national Palestinian issues, foremost the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties, a right which is sacred, permanent and inalienable. Second, to demand that the international community carry out its responsibility with regard to this right by pressuring the Israeli government to fulfill its obligation and to implement international resolutions, especially UN Resolution 194. This Resolution clearly affirms the right of the Palestinian refugees to return to their homes, and has been reaffirmed over hundred and ten times by the United Nations since its adoption in 1948.

In this context, we call our Palestinian people – national, official and popular organizations - to organize activities on this day in accordance with the needs and conditions of each community and each location. Networking among activities is important in order to strengthen our demand and to raise our voice from occupied Palestine beyond Israel’s military siege, and in order to unite the voices of those defending rights and justice all over the world.

Note: Rallies and marches will be held on the same day in New York, Canada, and Australia, in Madrid and other European capitals, as well as in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon.
