Film Screening and Lecture Organized by BADIL for Israeli Apartheid Week

BADIL, March 14, 2012, 13 March 2012-The documentary film “Roadmap to Apartheid” was screened in Dar Annadwa Theatre to a diverse audience of refugee youth, Bethlehem area civil society academics, government officials, and internationals.

The film, directed by Ms Ana Nogueira and Mr. Eron Davidson, starkly and accurately compared the Israeli Apartheid Regime to the South African Apartheid Regime. Ms Nogueira and Mr. Eron Davidson are career media activists. They created the documentary film, which has been translated into thirteen languages, to bring to light the blatant Apartheid Regime perpetuated by Israel against the Palestinian people.

Father Theodosios Atallah Hanna, Archbishop of Sebastia, kicked off the film screening, the first screening to a Palestinian audience. The reaction to the film, presented in English with Arabic subtitles, was overwhelmingly positive. The film is scheduled for simultaneous but separate screenings in Tel Aviv and Beit Sahour (at the Alternative Information Center) on 14 March.

14 March 2012-A lecture/discussion on the nuances of the Israeli Apartheid Regime was given to political and social science majors of Bethlehem University. Approximately 30 students attended the lecture/discussion given by BADIL. The lecture highlighted and clarified international definitions and the legal ramifications of repeatedly-and often times incorrectly-used terminology when discussing the Israeli Regime: occupation, colonialism and Apartheid.

BADIL staff also arranged table displays at Dar Annadwa and Bethlehem University to distribute the Israeli Apartheid Week brochure and other BADIL publications.
