BADIL tours south of Spain to raise awareness about human right violations in Palestine.

PR/EN/290514/13

Hosted by Andalusian Solidarity with Palestine (Andalucía Solidaria con Palestina), BADIL toured the south of Spain between the 17 and 24 April, and took part in events to raise awareness about human right violations in Palestine.

The tour included three conferences. The first one was in the University of Cordoba commemorating Palestinian Prisoners' Day and highlighting the experience of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. The second conference took place in the University of Malaga and focused on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from an international law perspective. BADIL presented a historical overview on displacement in Palestine and the triggers for ongoing forcible displacement. Finally, the third talk took place in the context of an Inter-University Conference on Research about Palestine. This two-day conference at the University of Granada gathered different researchers from across the world. BADIL’s presentations highlighted the international protection gaps for Palestinian refugees, and the issue of Nationality and Citizenship in the context of Palestine.

This tour manifests a growing interest and support towards the Palestinians cause, particularly the rights of Palestinian refugees and the internally displaced, and forms a launch-pad for further collaboration with Spanish civil society.
