Israel’s Forcible Transfer of Palestinian Bedouin: Forced Displacement as a Pillar of Colonialism and Apartheid Submission for the Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in the Palestinian Territory Occupied since 1967

PR/EN/1307155/25

This report – submitted in June 2015 to the Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories occupied since 1967, and endorsed by the Civic Coalition for Palestinian Rights in Jerusalem - is intended to highlight to the incumbent mandate-holder and other relevant actors the great importance of appropriate, legally-rooted terminology being applied to Israeli actions inside the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt). Accordingly, the submission considers contemporary Israeli forced displacement of Palestinians, and related acts, against the separate legal frameworks of colonialism and apartheid. In doing so, it seeks to promote awareness among UN bodies, policy-makers, practitioners and scholars of the magnitude and systematic nature of specific crimes commissioned inside the oPt by Israel which, in turn, represents an important step towards the delivery of justice to victims and accountability for perpetrators.
