Call to the Global Solidarity Movement for the Escalation of Actions

While the global solidarity movement for Palestine has made significant and unprecedented strides, it has become imperative to escalate these actions to force governments to stop their complicity in and/or act against Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip. Therefore, this call seeks to bring about escalated global direct actions that could impose a material effect on governments.    

After almost six months of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, Palestinians remain unprotected and continue to be killed, starved, tortured, besieged and forcibly displaced over and over again. Israel, bolstered by its allies, has not only refused to ease its chokehold and campaign of genocide on the Gaza Strip, but has also intentionally denied the needed amount of aid reaching the starved Palestinian population there, especially in the North, and deliberately obstructed the work of UNRWA and many other international agencies.

Satisfied with only voicing concerns over the “humanitarian crisis” and the importance of ensuring “safe evacuation” of Palestinians from Rafah, western colonial powers including the USA, the UK, Canada, and Australia, in addition to the EU and many of its member States including Germany, France and Italy, continue to politically, financially and militarily support Israel. This is in addition to defunding UNRWA, the most capable and credible agency providing lifesaving aid for the Palestinian population, further aiding and abetting Israel’s genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. This genocide continues while states watch on, neglecting their international obligations to prevent and stop the genocide.

The efforts of the global solidarity movement for Palestine have stood in stark contrast with the positions of the political class, and have shown that the moral and legal bankruptcy of politicians and institutions does not represent the public will of the people. From weekly protests flooding the streets, to campaigns targeting representatives and advocating for boycotts, divestments, and sanctions, to direct actions that disrupt the status quo, it has become evidently clear that the people, whoever they are and wherever they may be, stand with Palestine.

However, despite the persistent efforts and victories of the solidarity movement, Israel’s genocidal onslaught continues and reaches new depraved heights. Meanwhile, its colonial allies continue to violate their international obligations and render themselves as not only complicit, but as active agents in this genocide. In this moment, governments have made it abundantly clear that they stand with profit and power over people and rule of law. This means that an escalation of actions that are sustainable and effective is urgently required.

Therefore, while the undersigned networks, unions, social community forums, and civil society organizations encourage the continuation of every direct action that imposes pressure on governments and private sector actors involved in the genocide, we believe that a swift end to the ongoing irreparable harm and loss in the Gaza Strip can only be through a material impact on the ability of the systems of these complicit states to function as normal. Material effects may be derived from targeting train stations, airports, commercial centers, diplomatic and governmental offices, arms companies, ports, and more. Workers and trade unions can, for example, aim to disrupt workplaces and dysfunction the flow of profit that is gained from involvement in Israel’s genocide; students can organize and continue their occupations and divestment campaigns demanding that their universities review and cut all ties with Israeli institutions; the international solidarity movement can coordinate between groups  and cities to intensify campaigns to ensure maximum impact.

Actions should be effective and sustainable in order to ensure that they remain consistent in the long-run, yet identified strategically in order to impose the most significant and swift impact on disrupting the status quo. The goal is to ensure that governments will no longer have an option to disregard public will and the requirement for practical actions to bring about an immediate and unconditional ceasefire on the Gaza Strip, the protection of the besieged Palestinians, the provision of unrestricted humanitarian aid and withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip. Accordingly, we call on the international solidarity movement with Palestine to escalate direct actions to stop the Israeli genocide in Gaza, and end all complicity in Israel’s colonial-apartheid regime, until Palestine is free, from the river to the sea.

Llamamiento al movimiento de solidaridad global para la intensificación de las acciones

 

Aunque el movimiento global de solidaridad con Palestina ha logrado avances significativos y sin precedentes, se ha hecho imperativo intensificar estas acciones para obligar a los gobiernos a poner fin a su complicidad en la guerra genocida de Israel contra la Franja de Gaza y/o a actuar contra ella. Por lo tanto, este llamamiento pretende conseguir una escalada de acciones globales directas que puedan imponer un efecto material a los gobiernos.  

Tras casi seis meses de guerra genocida de Israel contra la Franja de Gaza, la población palestina sigue desprotegida y continúa siendo asesinada, muriendo de hambre, torturada, asediada y desplazada por la fuerza una y otra vez. Israel, apoyado por sus aliados, no sólo se ha negado a reducir su asfixia y su campaña de genocidio en la Franja de Gaza, sino que también ha negado intencionadamente la cantidad necesaria de ayuda que llega a la hambrienta población palestina, especialmente en el norte, y ha obstruido deliberadamente el trabajo de la UNRWA y de muchas otras agencias internacionales. 

Satisfechas con limitarse a expresar su preocupación por la "crisis humanitaria" y la importancia de garantizar una "evacuación segura" de palestinas y palestinos de Rafah, las potencias coloniales occidentales, incluidos Estados Unidos, Reino Unido, Canadá y Australia, además de la UE y muchos de sus estados miembros, como Alemania, Francia e Italia, siguen apoyando política, financiera y militarmente a Israel. Esto se suma a la desfinanciación de la UNRWA, la agencia más capaz y creíble que proporciona ayuda vital para la población palestina, ayudando y apoyando aún más el genocidio de Israel contra la población en la Franja de Gaza. Este genocidio continúa mientras los estados lo observan, haciendo caso omiso de sus obligaciones internacionales para prevenir y detener el genocidio.

Los esfuerzos del movimiento de solidaridad global con Palestina han contrastado fuertemente con las posiciones de la clase política y han demostrado que la bancarrota moral y legal de los políticos y las instituciones no representa a las masas. Desde las protestas semanales que inundan las calles, pasando por las campañas dirigidas a los representantes y que abogan por boicots, desinversiones y sanciones, hasta las acciones directas que perturban el statu quo, ha quedado evidentemente claro que el pueblo, sea quien sea y esté donde esté, está con Palestina. 

Sin embargo, a pesar de los persistentes esfuerzos y las victorias del movimiento de solidaridad, la embestida genocida de Israel continúa y alcanza nuevas cotas depravadas, y sus aliados coloniales siguen violando sus obligaciones internacionales y convirtiéndose no sólo en cómplices sino en agentes activos de este genocidio. En este momento, los gobiernos han dejado meridianamente claro que están con el beneficio y el poder por encima de las personas y el Estado de derecho. Esto significa que una escalada de acciones que sean sostenibles y efectivas es urgentemente necesaria.   

Por lo tanto, aunque las redes, sindicatos, foros sociales comunitarios y organizaciones de la sociedad civil abajo firmantes alientan la continuación de toda acción directa que imponga presión sobre los gobiernos y el sector privado implicados en el genocidio, creemos que el rápido fin del daño y las pérdidas irreparables que se están produciendo en la Franja de Gaza sólo puede conseguirse mediante un impacto material en la capacidad de los sistemas de estos estados cómplices para funcionar con normalidad. Los efectos materiales pueden derivarse de enfocarse en estaciones de tren, aeropuertos, centros comerciales, oficinas diplomáticas y gubernamentales, empresas armamentísticas, puertos y otros lugares. Las personas trabajadoras y los sindicatos pueden, por ejemplo, proponerse interrumpir los centros de trabajo y interrumpir el flujo de beneficios que se obtiene de la participación en este genocidio; los y las estudiantes podrían organizarse en sus universidades y continuar con sus ocupaciones y campañas de desinversión, exigiendo que sus universidades revisen y corten todas sus relaciones con instituciones israelíes; el movimiento de solidaridad internacional puede coordinarse entre grupos y ciudades para intensificar las campañas para garantizar un impacto máximo. Las acciones deben ser efectivas y sostenibles para garantizar que se mantengan a largo plazo, pero identificadas estratégicamente para imponer el impacto más significativo y rápido en la alteración del statu quo. El objetivo es garantizar que los gobiernos ya no tendrán la opción de hacer caso omiso de los llamamientos  y  los requerimientos públicos para acciones prácticas para un alto el fuego inmediato e incondicional en la Franja de Gaza, la protección de la población palestina asediada, la prestación de ayuda humanitaria sin restricciones y la retirada de las fuerzas israelíes de la Franja de Gaza.

Por lo tanto, llamamos al movimiento internacional de solidaridad con Palestina que intensifiquen acciones directas para parar el genocidio israelí, y acabar con toda la complicidad con el régimen colonial-apartheid de Israel hasta que Palestina sea libre, desde el río hasta el mar.

Aufruf an die internationale Solidaritätsbewegung zur Ausweitung der Aktionen

 

Obwohl die globale Solidaritätsbewegung für Palästina bedeutende und beispiellose Fortschritte gemacht hat, ist es zwingend notwendig geworden, diese Aktionen auszuweiten, um die Regierungen zu zwingen, ihre Beihilfe zu Israels völkermörderischem Krieg gegen den Gazastreifen zu beenden und/oder dagegen vorzugehen. Daher beabsichtig wir mit diesem  Aufruf, weltweit nachhaltige und wirksame Aktionen zu bewirken, die eine wesentliche Wirkung auf die Regierungen ausüben könnten.   

Nach fast sechs Monaten des völkermörderischen Krieges Israels gegen den Gazastreifen sind die Palästinenser weiterhin ungeschützt und werden nach wie vor getötet, ausgehungert, gefoltert, belagert und vertrieben. Israel hat sich mit Unterstützung seiner Verbündeten nicht nur geweigert, seinen Würgegriff und seine Gewaltkampagne gegen den Gazastreifen zu lockern, sondern hat auch die Hilfslieferungen an die ausgehungerte palästinensische Bevölkerung dort, insbesondere im Norden, reduziert und die Arbeit des UNRWA und vieler anderer internationaler Organisationen behindert. 

Die westlichen Kolonialmächte wie die USA, das Vereinigte Königreich, Kanada und Australien sowie die EU und viele ihrer Mitgliedstaaten, darunter Deutschland, Frankreich und Italien, begnügen sich damit, ihre Besorgnis über die „humanitäre Krise” und die Notwendigkeit einer „sicheren Evakuierung” der Palästinenser aus Rafah zu äußern und Israel weiterhin politisch, finanziell und militärisch zu unterstützen. Hinzu kommt, dass das UNRWA, die fähigste und glaubwürdigste Organisation, die lebensrettende Hilfe für die palästinensische Bevölkerung leistet, nicht mehr finanziert wird, wodurch Israels Völkermord an den Palästinensern im Gazastreifen weiter unterstützt und begünstigt wird. Dieser Völkermord geht weiter, während die Staaten, insbesondere die westlichen Kolonialmächte, dabei zusehen und ihre internationalen Verpflichtungen zur Verhinderung und Beendigung des Völkermords vernachlässigen.

Die Bemühungen der internationalen Solidaritätsbewegung für Palästina stehen in krassem Gegensatz zu den Positionen der politischen Klasse und haben gezeigt, dass der moralische und rechtliche Bankrott von Politikern und Institutionen nicht dem öffentlich artikulierten Willen der Bevölkerung entspricht. Von wöchentlichen Protesten, die die Straßen überfluten, über Kampagnen, die sich an Abgeordnete richten und für Boykott, Desinvestitionen und Sanktionen eintreten, bis hin zu direkten Aktionen, die den Status quo stören, ist deutlich geworden, dass die Menschen, wer auch immer sie sind und wo auch immer sie sein mögen, an der Seite Palästinas stehen. 

Doch trotz der anhaltenden Bemühungen und Siege der internationalen Solidaritätsbewegung geht Israels völkermörderischer Angriff weiter und erreicht neue verwerfliche Ausmaße. Unterdessen verletzen seine kolonialen Verbündeten weiterhin ihre internationalen Verpflichtungen und machen sich nicht nur zu Komplizen, sondern zu aktiven Akteuren in diesem Völkermord. In diesem Moment haben die Regierungen überdeutlich gemacht, dass sie Profit und Macht über die Menschen und die Rechtsstaatlichkeit stellen. Dies macht einer Ausweitung der Aktionen, die nachhaltig und effektiv sein sollen, dringend notwendig. 

Während die unterzeichnenden Netzwerke, Gewerkschaften, Sozialforen und zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen die Fortsetzung aller direkten Aktionen unterstützen, die Druck auf Regierungen und private Akteure ausüben, die in den Völkermord verwickelt sind, sind wir der Meinung, dass ein schnelles Ende des anhaltenden irreparablen Schadens und der Verluste im Gazastreifen nur  durch materielle Auswirkungen auf die Fähigkeit der Systeme dieser mitschuldigen Staaten, wie gewohnt zu funktionieren, erreicht werden kann. Materielle Auswirkungen können durch Aktionen in Bahnhöfen, Flughäfen, Handelszentren, diplomatischen und Regierungsbüros, Rüstungsunternehmen, Häfen und vieles mehr erzielt werden. Arbeitnehmer und Gewerkschaften können beispielsweise versuchen, die Arbeitsprozesse zu stören und die Gewinne zu mindern, die durch die Beteiligung am israelischen Völkermord erzielt wird; Studenten können ihre Besetzungen und Desinvestitionskampagnen organisieren und fortsetzen, in denen sie fordern, dass ihre Universitäten alle Verbindungen zu israelischen Einrichtungen überprüfen und kappen; die internationale Solidaritätsbewegung kann sich zwischen Gruppen und Städten koordinieren, um die Kampagnen zu intensivieren und eine maximale Wirkung zu erzielen.

Die Aktionen sollten wirksam und nachhaltig sein, um sicherzustellen, dass sie langfristig Bestand haben, und gleichzeitig strategisch so ausgewählt werden, dass sie die größten und schnellsten Auswirkungen auf die Störung des Status quo haben. Ziel ist es, sicherzustellen, dass die Regierungen keine Möglichkeit mehr haben, die öffentlichen Forderungen nach einem sofortigen und bedingungslosen Waffenstillstand im Gazastreifen, dem Schutz der belagerten Palästinenser, der Bereitstellung uneingeschränkter humanitärer Hilfe und dem Rückzug der israelischen Streitkräfte aus dem Gazastreifen zu ignorieren. Dementsprechend rufen wir die internationale Solidaritätsbewegung mit Palästina auf, die direkten Aktionen zu verstärken, um den israelischen Völkermord im Gazastreifen zu stoppen und jede Komplizenschaft mit Israels kolonialem Apartheidregime zu beenden, bis Palästina frei ist, vom Fluss bis zum Meer.
